When I get stuck I like to go to scribble drawings. I find the form emerges without sweating too many of the details. This is a great warm up for me and it feels great to let loose. I brought a friend to her first nude figure drawing session today, we had a great model and she did really well. I find the quiet focused attention in the room a welcome relief from the chatter of the day.

ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like a life drawing class or open studio. Each model brings their own personality to the room and when it clicks, it is amazing. Drawing from life in every medium and in every genre is recommended. It will improve your art over all and it is a life long journey, not something you learn once, but something you work on to hone your skills every day. I've met some of the nicest and most interesting people at these events, I can't recommend it enough.
